Just as texture is basic to our enjoyment of food clothes, and decoration, the writer creates characters, moods, localities by describing the textures associated with a person or place. -A Place for Ideas, Our Theater
Exercises to explore texture:
- make a collage of textures that describe how you feel
- create different textures with paint
- collect items from around the house, feel the textures - how would you turn those textures into characters?
- try to create the same thing using different mediums with different textures - how are the results different?
