Iuuenalis Cum Commento Joanis Britannici

The Iuuenalis Cum Commento Joanis Britannici, or Juvenal with Commentary by Giovanni Britannico, is a Latin commentary on Roman satirist Juvenal’s 1st–2nd century Satires, printed in 1509. This book, in the most common form of commentary, includes the original author’s text in full or in excerpts, followed by, or in this case, surrounded by, the commentator’s observations and explanations. A commentary was, as it is now, primarily an educational tool meant to help the reader understand the original text and its language and history.
